dahlia CSA

$140.00

We are excited to share with you our 2025 Dahlia CSA, a subscription for bouquets of this rare seasonal flower! If you are unfamiliar with a CSA, please scroll down to the bottom of this listing to read more about it!

Note: if this is a gift, I can email you a pdf of a certificate to share.

What’s included: With the purchase of this CSA, you will receive 4 bouquets of various dahlias that we are growing. Some varieties are called dinner plates, and can be as large across as 9 inches. Others are medium, and others are smaller. These bouquets will be bountiful! Some additional flowers may be used to complement your dahlias, such as celosia, grasses, and dried flowers as well. You will receive 4 bouquets in total, and will be notified the they are ready. Weeks will not always be consecutive, as we rely on Mother Nature to tell us when the blooms will be available.

How this works: Dahlia CSA consists of 4 bouquets (one bouquet a week, not consecutive weeks) sometime starting in August/September. Flexible start date, dependent on blooms. We will notify you by email when the CSA will start and pick ups will be available.

Pick up details: For your convenience and to accommodate schedules, pick up will be available two days a week (usually Tuesday through Friday) at Canyon Pass Provisions in Fair Haven, NJ. We will send out email and text reminders. If you cannot pick up your bouquet, you may send a friend to pick it up for you. If you are unable to pick up, it will be considered forfeited and donated. Bouquets will not be shipped or delivered.

Pickup Details:

Canyon Pass Provisions, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Canyon Pass Provisions, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Description

What is a CSA?

A CSA (otherwise known as Community Supported Agriculture) is way of sharing a farmers crops with local consumers. Crops could be veggies, fruits, or in this case, flowers. It has many benefits, the first being that you can buy directly from the farmer for a cheaper cost, with fresher blooms in a more sustainable way than having blooms shipped from abroad. For this product, it is a subscription to a weekly bouquet of seasonal blooms.

Why buy local flowers when I can get them from the store?

We offer local, sustainable blooms to our local community, directly from the farmer (Andreea). Currently, almost 80% of the flowers sold in the United States come from other countries. Purchasing local flowers means you can grab your bouquet hours after the blooms were picked (that’s fresh!) This saves time, shipping, and gas, and is much better for the environment.

Here are some more benefits of joining a flower CSA:

1. Produce and blooms are fresh: by the time blooms hit a store, they may have been in transit for weeks. Buying local from a CSA means the blooms are fresh and more vibrant.

2. You are supporting local farmers and their products

4. You get more variety in your blooms (for example, shops usually sell one type of daffodil, while farmers often have unique, exotic varieties such as double blooms, red and yellow blooms, pink, cream, and more)

5. It’s interactive: you can ask the farmer questions and have a direct line of communication

6. Price: The arrangements are usually more bountiful and artistically arranged than from large stores, typically for a smaller fee.

7. Sustainability and eco-conscious: Farmers will use more sustainable methods (such as paper over plastic, etc.) Also, purchasing from a CSA, you avoid the time, travel and gas associated with big box store blooms that are shipped from far away.

8. Rare blooms: When it comes to dahlias, they are not typically available at florists or stores since they are very hard to ship since they are fragile. This is why buying local matters: you get the advantage of rare flowers grown in your very own community!
